A HUGE thank you to everyone who came to the comedy fundraiser for SDS and North London Food Not Bombs. We had a really great night.
Thank you also to the wonderful acts that performed:
Described as the “David Bowie of standup”, Josie Long started performing as a stand-up at the age of 14 and won the BBC New Comedy Awards at 17. In 2006, she won the If.comeddies Best Newcomer award at the Fringe. Josie has been nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show three times. In 2012, Long and director Doug King produced two short BAFTA-nominated comedy films in Glasgow called Let’s Go Swimming and Romance and Adventure.
Funny Women finalist Sophie is a comedian from London who started doing stand-up in 2015. Described by the Independent as “a sparky proposition… intelligent jokes”, and by herself as “magical black girl stand-up”, Sophie is also one-half of comedy showcase Manic Pixie Dream Girls, and has written for Newsjack and BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show.
